Martin Green
Martin Green has been the driving force behind Whisky auctions stretching back over 30 years. He is credited with devising and holding the first ever dedicated Whisky Auction sale in 1989 at Christie’s whom he was with until 1999. In 2000 Martin joined McTear’s as a consultant to set up a new Whisky department where he developed quarterly auctions until 2008 when he joined Bonhams to resurrect their Whisky Department where he successfully developed four auctions per year in Edinburgh and occasional sales in New York, until leaving Bonhams in 2022.
During his career he has been integral to several UK and World record auction prices for rare Single Malt Whiskies, among his achievements the highest price paid for any artwork/item sold at auction in Scotland, at the time, whilst with Bonhams in 2018 (sale of The Macallan-60 year old-1926-Valerio Adami label, £848,750).
After taking a short break, Martin is delighted to join Graham Budd Auctions to further develop an exciting new category of auction sales in 2023 and beyond.
