Martin Green

Martin Green has been the driving force behind Whisky auctions stretching back over 30 years. He is credited with devising and holding the first ever dedicated Whisky Auction sale in 1989 at Christie’s where he was Whisky Specialist for over ten years. In 2000, Martin joined McTear’s as a consultant to set up a new Whisky department and develop quarterly auctions. He then moved to Bonhams in 2008 to resurrect their Whisky Department and successfully developed four auctions per year in Edinburgh and occasional sales in New York, until leaving Bonhams in 2022.

During his career, he has been integral to several UK and World record auction prices for rare Single Malt Whiskies, among his achievements, the highest price paid for any artwork/item sold at auction in Scotland, at the time, whilst with Bonhams in 2018 (sale of The Macallan-60 year old-1926-Valerio Adami label, £848,750).

After taking a short break, Martin is delighted to join Graham Budd Auctions to further develop an exciting new category of auction sales in 2023 and beyond.
