the obverse depicting two women crowning an athlete with a laurel wreath and inscribed OLYMPIC GAMES LONDON 1908, the reverse St George slaying the dragon, the rim engraved WINNER ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CLUB, CLYDE H. PURNELL, 15ct by Vaughton & Sons, diameter 33mm., 27gr Clyde Purnell was born on 14th May in Ryde, Isle of Wight, he was a keen sportsman. He captained the Olympic Sporting Club at just 18 and played in Amateur Cup finals, winning both runners-up and winners medals.

Skiff, Director of EXHIBITS and the shields of St Louis, France & USA on a background of ivy leaves, 40mm The present medal has no loop, or traces of a loop being removed, and therefore was originally presented to a participating athlete.
