Billy Sowden rare sky-blue and white No.9 Manchester City v. Heart of Midlothian match worn long-sleeved shirt, 1953, Umbro, M, with button-up collar, staining and fraying to some edges

The above shirt was worn by Billy Sowden and is a one-off special shirt designed to celebrate the opening of the new Maine Road floodlights on 14th October 1953 v Heart of Midlothian. A shiny look finish was designed to reflect the players better under the new lights.  Sowden would hit a hat-trick in a 6-3 City victory while playing instead of Don Revie. Shirt had been laid in the same Manchester chest of draws for 66 years before being secured into collection via the supporter who was gifted a bag full of kit outside Maine Road as an 8-year-old following the fixture
