Karlheinz Forster white and black No.4 West Germany v. Austria ‘Disgrace of Gijon’ match worn short-shirt, World Cup 1982, Adidas, L, with v-neck collar and embroidered cloth badge inscribed DEUTSCHER FUSSBALL-BUND

The above shirt was worn by Forster and gained by Hans Krankl as a swap after the controversial 1982 World Cup group 2 match against West Germany played on 25th June 1982 in Gijon. With the then tiebreaker rules in the group stage, a West Germany win by 1 or 2 goals would ensure that both Austria and West Germany advanced to the next stage of the World Cup competition, West Germany scored the only goal after 10 minutes after which the match deteriorated . The rules were subsequently changed after the 1982 tournament.
