In the final played on 20th April 1895 at The Crystal Palace Aston villa defeated West Brom 1-0, Chatt scoring the only goal of the match after 39 seconds.
Robert Chatt was born at Barnard Castle in August 1870 and joined Aston Villa in August 1893 from Middlesbrough Ironopoolis and he played 94 times for Villa scoring 26 goals before joining Stockton in June 1898. Thereafter there were periods with South Shields, Willington Athletic and Manchester City as trainer
