Silver-gilt Menton Lawn Tennis Club Riviera two-handled trophy and cover by R & S Garrard & Co, London 1911, beautifully decorated with vine leaves and grapes, the handles similarly decorated, the lid with openwork foliate finial, the body inscribed Menton Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. Presented by the Town of Menton 1915, Men's Singles, Champions of the Riviera, the body further inscribed with winners 1919 N. Misu, 1920 N. Misu, 1921 F Gordon Lowe 1922 R.C. Werthein 1923 F. Gordon Lowe, with Menton Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club stamp, 30cm high, 1,933grms and a 1923 Menton Lawn Tennis Club, Third Day programme, 1923 (2)
F. Gordon Lowe won the tournament in 1924 and again in 1925 and as was the custom he got to keep the trophy permanently. However, we presume he did not see the need to have it inscribed for the 1924 and 1925 wins.
