Roscoe Tanner won 16 titles throughout his career, including the Australian Open. He reached the Wimbledon final in 1979, narrowly losing to Bjorn Borg in five sets, in one of the greatest games ever seen on centre court
Roscoe was famous for having one of the greatest services the game has ever seen. His big left-handed serve was clocked at 153 miles per hour with a wooden racket (246 km/h) during the 1978 American Airlines Tennis Games singles final against Raul Ramirez: stood as a world record for over ten years
