A fine collection of 61 amateur concert programmes featuring the first Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Champion Spencer Gore,dating betwen 1883 and 1897, recording Spencer Gore playing the banjo and singing songs solo and in operetta in London and throughout England, performing on some occasions with his wife, sometimes with fellow tennis personality Julian Marshall and his family, and A. A. Hadow brother to Frank Hadow who beat Gore at Wimbledon in 1878, occasional annotations reasonable to conclude in the hand of Gore, the collection providing a fascinating insight into the later life of the first Wimbledon Champion, his career as Crown Receiver and Surveyor affording him opportunities to entertain in numerous towns and villages up and down the country; offered with a folder of research conducted by the seller regarding the programmes collection
