Poethlyn: 1918 & 1919 Grand National ephemera, comprising: a rail voucher for travel from Eastbourne to Gatwick for the 'War National', 21st March 1918; together with a 1919 Grand National Dinner menu, held at the Exchange Station Hotel, Liverpool, 28th March 1919 (2) Memorabilia of any description for the War Nationals held at Gatwick between 1916 and 1918 is rare. In 1919 the National returned to Aintree. Poethlyn won the Gatwick and the Aintree races and was ridden by Lester Piggott's grandfather Ernie Piggott.
