Unused colour posters for all five Grand Prix held at Aintree, comprising 1955, 1957, 1959, 1961 & 1962, some artwork by Roy Nockolds, size 75 by 51cm., 30 by 20 in., plus an additional two 1955 posters and smaller flyers from race sponsor the Daily Telegraph, including a stop-press announcement that the Mercedes-Benz team would race (9) That the first grand prix at Aintree took place at all was an achievement in itself, following as it did in the wake of the 1955 Le Mans disaster, in which upwards of 80 people were killed when a Mercedes-Benz somersaulted into the crowd. This was and still is the worst tragedy ever to occur in motor racing and resulted in Aintree's safety being questioned in parliament. In Switzerland motor racing was banned forever.
